Happy Birthday, USA!

As we celebrate American independence, we take pause to thank our patriotic Founding Fathers and Mothers who sacrificed everything they had in the quest for abundant life. We, too, honor each and every subsequent patriot who has fought to protect and defend that freedom.

But during this time, may we also be particularly mindful of the freedom we have in Christ -- freedom from sin, fear, hate, depression, worry and hopelessness. It is a freedom bought by His blood in the name of having life...and having it more abundantly (John 10:10).

My prayer is that each of us would more fully connect with love for ourselves, our neighbors, our friends (and enemies), our country and our world. That we would never take for granted even the most minescule of blessings we enjoy and never undervalue the power of our appreciation for others. Above all, may we praise God Almighty from Whom all blessings flow.
