Who Is The Opposition?

"For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." ~ Ephesians 6:12

With the 9th anniversary of September 11th rapidly approaching, American sensitivities are heightened by the vivid memories of that tragic day. Adding to that "rawness" are plans for the Muslim Mega-Shrine to be built near the hallowed soil of New York City's Ground Zero. I join countless Americans who believe reverance and tolerance are two-way streets, and that those behind the shrine-building effort would abandon the site plans if they, too, believed in mutual respect. If nothing else, scrapping the building plan could be one heck of a public relations move for those involved. I also believe that just because one has a "right" to do something does not mean it is right to actually DO it.

Many of us are increasingly concerned about the spread of radical Islam (emphasis on "radical"), and that concern can and does easily give way to making Christians insecure about the future of our "One Nation Under God" and overall safety. This is why it is imperative for us to remember who we are fighting. Islam is not the enemy any more than anything else. SATAN is the enemy. Plain and simple.

Every person has free will, of course. Every one of us makes the decision in any given circumstance on any given day to make Godly decisions or self-seeking decisions. It only takes one moment for any of us to make a destructive decision. It only takes one moment for any of us to make a positive Godly decision, as well. We must remember to stand strong against the entities noted in Ephesians 6. We must remember to love everyone because God Almighty, Our Heavenly Father, created every person (Mark 12:30-31). Whether or not we decide to be seduced by sin determines what kind of person anyone becomes (Please read the ENTIRE book of Jude! It's only one chapter.)

Our ONLY security comes in (a) correctly targeting our opponent; (b) correctly understanding who we fight FOR; and (c) God is unspeakably greater than ANY force in opposition. Please join me in praying against Satan's schemes, the blindness of the lost and Christ's enlightenment for all. How do those people see Christ? They will know we are Christians by our love. Let's love those who oppose us by praying for their spiritual liberation (Jude 1:22-23). And let us always remember, they oppose us to begin with because of the powerful Name we serve!
